The Christmas Homeless Crisis | It’s difficult to imagine how tough it must be for individuals who don’t have a roof over their heads, especially during Christmas time. While we all are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with our friends & family, there are thousands of people who are experiencing homelessness. There are a few ways that we all can do to assist these individuals.
Below we’ve listed a few ways we may assist those who are homeless during the holidays:
Donate:
Homeless people often find themselves without the essentials they require to survive. We can donate money, warm clothes/towels/blankets, food, hygiene products, etc. We can donate directly to them or to the organizations which work for them.
Contact professionals:
If we observe a homeless person who is injured or critically ill, we must act quickly and dial 999 to inform the emergency services.
Reach out:
There are numerous ways to show love & and make the holidays more enjoyable for the homeless. We can take them to our place of worship, organize an outing for them, take them to our home and let them enjoy themselves with us.
Offer a room or refer them to an organization that works for them:
If we can offer a room to the homeless people, that can be a great help. There are some brilliant charities across the UK that are supporting homeless people. We can check the nearest one & refer them.
Lend a smile:
Even if we are unable to take financial action, we may show homeless persons the same decency and respect that we would show our friends and family. It’s preferable to look at them and smile than to make them feel invisible or ignored.
